Special Olympics Soccer 2025
General Information
Special Olympics Utah is hosting its annual soccer season for 2025. Provo United will be participating and competing in our own local Utah County Tournament. Please read this document in its entirety before registering to be a Special Olympics (SOUT) Athlete, Unified Partner, Coach or Volunteer.
Participation
Due to space and coaching capacity, we are only able to accept SOUT athletes and Unified Partners who plan on competing. If you are unable to meet the attendance requirements (you can't miss more than 3 practices) or attend the tournament(s), we ask that you not register for this sports season. Thank you for understanding.
Rides
Athletes are expected to find their own rides to practice. For liability reasons, it is their family/guardian or caregiver's responsibility to help them to find a reliable way to get to practices & competitions. Athletes, please talk with your family and/or caregiver to ensure you have a reliable way to get to practices & competitions, just as you would to work or school.
Definitions
SOUT (Special Olympics Utah) Athlete
Athlete with IDD age 8 and older
Unified Partner
Unified Partners without IDD age 8 and older. For this sports season, Unified Partners are competitors, not volunteers. This means they will compete alongside a SOUT athlete of similar age and/or score. Unified Partners age 18 and older must complete the required background check
Coaches and Volunteers (individuals age 16 and older)
Coaches and volunteers should have familiarity/experience with the sport and be willing to learn the SOUT rules to provide training
Coaches and Volunteers ages 18 and older must complete the required background check.
PRACTICES
Track practices will be held on Saturdays at the Harman Field at BYU on the corner of 9th East and University Parkway in Provo.
Time: Saturdays 10:30 - 11:30 AM starting on March 22nd.
COMPETITIONS
Local Tournament in June. Details coming soon.
As a heads up, This season we are planning on a majority of our athletes participating in a local tournament, in place of the State Special Olympics tournaments, as they have been moved south to Cedar City. We are excited to be able to still compete locally.
